Colour Research on Wellbeing and Neurocognition Lab

Welcome to the CROWN Lab at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou). Led by Dr. Luwen Yu, we conduct evidence-based colour research at the intersection of design, psychology, optics, statistics, data science, and AI. Our work focuses on understanding how colour and visual environments shape human perception, cognition, behaviour, and wellbeing. We combine behavioural experiments, multimodal measurements, and computational approaches to investigate human responses to colour across digital media, built environments, and interactive contexts. Our mission is to advance human-centred and evidence-based colour research, and to translate this knowledge into design, technology, and real-world applications.
